About The Position

The Technical Designer executes the technical design process from development through final fit. The role analyzes and evaluates garments to establish correct fit specifications and ensures products meet fit-quality standards, manufacturer capabilities, and cost specifications. The designer develops technical specifications and communicates fit requirements to vendors and factories for approvals and corrections. The role also makes adjustments with factories as needed to preserve the integrity of approved design prototypes while monitoring quality and target pricing. It typically reports to the Technical Services Manager and may direct Assistant or Associate Technical Designers.

This is a junior-level technical design assignment. The desired candidate can independently own a product area and conduct fittings, while remaining able to develop under management. The posting describes the assignment as temporary, onsite in Manhattan, New York, for three months.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in technical design.
• Plus-size experience.
• Experience owning or participating in fittings.
• Ability to write fit comments and pattern corrections.

Nice To Haves

• Sleepwear experience.
• Centric training.
• Experience with Excel, Illustrator, and Flex PLM.
