About The Position

Intel's Foundry Capacity Optimization (FCO) and Strategic Planning organization is seeking a senior individual contributor to lead operational transformation across its planning and capacity ecosystems. Reporting directly to the VP/GM of Foundry Capacity Optimization, the role partners with Staff Area Managers, Principal Engineers, and senior FCSP stakeholders to design and execute a multi-year digital and operational transformation roadmap. The goal is to increase the organization's strategic impact, speed, and analytical depth without expanding headcount by reducing manual data manipulation, spreadsheet modeling, and repetitive reconciliation. The role develops the end-to-end FCO digital transformation roadmap, aligning long-range planning, capacity modeling, tool allocation, and operational execution systems. It translates foundry workflows into scalable enterprise system requirements, defines measurable productivity improvements, and leads adoption of AI, machine learning, and automation for decision-support processes such as tool mismatch identification, capacity balancing, and yield/mix scenario modeling. The engineer works with Foundry Automation, Enterprise IT, software development, data engineering, business intelligence teams, and external technology partners to deploy production-grade solutions. The position also establishes integrated sources of truth and automated data pipelines; benchmarks planning practices and technologies in semiconductor and other capital-intensive industries; evaluates commercial platforms against internal development; and leads stakeholder alignment, change adoption, and engineering capability development.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with data analysis and automation tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, business intelligence platforms, or similar technologies.
  • Experience developing capacity models, facility layouts, or manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes, production systems, or factory operations.
  • Familiarity with forecasting methodologies and statistical techniques.
  • Bachelor's/BS degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.
  • 12 or more years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, 8 or more years with a master's degree, or 6 or more years with a PhD.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-volume semiconductor manufacturing, semiconductor foundry operations, or complex wafer fab supply chains, including familiarity with fab toolsets, lithography/etch/thin-film constraints, cycle-time dynamics, and capacity models.
  • Familiarity with commercial supply chain or capacity planning suites such as Kinaxis, Anaplan, SAP IBP, and Blue Yonder, as well as modern business intelligence architectures.
  • Experience engaging and directing external technology vendors, systems integrators, and management consultants on technology pilots and full-scale rollouts.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, Design for Excellence, or formal Business Process Re-engineering (BPR).

Responsibilities

  • Define, architect, and deliver the end-to-end FCO Digital Transformation Roadmap across long-range planning, capacity modeling, tool allocation, and operational execution systems.
  • Translate foundry operational workflows into automated, scalable, and resilient enterprise system requirements.
  • Establish metrics to measure manual labor reduction, cycle-time compression, and decision-velocity improvements.
  • Lead adoption of AI, machine learning, and generative AI to automate decision-support processes, including tool mismatch identification, capacity balancing, and yield/mix scenario modeling.
  • Partner with Foundry Automation, Enterprise IT, software development groups, and third-party technology consultants to prototype, validate, and deploy production-grade solutions.
  • Replace fragmented spreadsheets and static databases with unified, low-latency, automated enterprise planning engines.
  • Reduce manual mapping, transformation, integration, and reconciliation of fab, demand, and tool datasets.
  • Work with data engineering and business intelligence teams to establish a single source of truth for fab capacity, equipment lines, capital planning, and customer allocations.
  • Implement automated exception handling, data anomaly detection, and self-healing data pipelines for critical planning feeds.
  • Benchmark peer semiconductor foundries and adjacent capital-intensive industries for planning systems, algorithmic optimization, and operational efficiency practices.
  • Evaluate commercial off-the-shelf platforms against proprietary internal builds and prepare business cases, ROI models, and technology roadmaps for executive review.
  • Bring external best practices into FCO and promote continuous modernization, technological curiosity, and systems thinking.
  • Advise Staff Area Managers, Principal Engineers, and executive management as a technical thought partner.
  • Lead operational change management to support adoption of digital tools, automated interfaces, and standardized workflows.
  • Mentor and upskill engineers in analytical tools, automation scripts, and systems-level problem solving.
