About The Position

Cardiff Students' Union is seeking multiple Technical Crew members from a range of backgrounds, from students looking to gain experience to experienced technicians seeking additional work. Technical Crew support live events at the Union, including live music, nightclub events, corporate functions, conferences, and student society gatherings. The role combines technical knowledge and creativity, covering stage builds, rigging, and sound and lighting setups. Crew work closely with the Technical Co-ordinator to deliver events to high standards, follow health and fire safety protocols, manage technical stores, and guide local crew. The position offers opportunities to work directly with artists and touring bands. Hours vary week to week, with more work expected during term-time; the role requires working unsociable hours.

Responsibilities

• Support technical requirements for live music, nightclub, corporate, conference, and student society events.
• Program and operate lighting for live events.
• Build stages and carry out rigging.
• Set up sound and lighting systems.
• Work closely with the Technical Co-ordinator to deliver events to high standards and in line with the event vision.
• Uphold health and fire safety protocols.
• Manage technical stores.
• Guide local crew.
• Engage directly with artists and touring bands.
