About The Position

The successful applicant will be performing work on US Government classified environments, and therefore, must be a U.S. Person (i.e., U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee). This position will perform work that the U.S. government has specified can only be performed by a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil. The successful applicant must have a current US Government DOD Security Clearance. Our Consulting Engineers are an integral part of the Customer Experience (CX) team delivering Business Critical Services to our customers! We combine the power of Cisco Analytics and Knowledge with the outstanding technical expertise and consulting (that’s you) to drive value, innovation, and adoption in our customer’s network. We help them to reduce risk, drive innovation, and improve their network to meet business objectives. We are the customer’s trusted advisor and expert, helping the customer understand their network, reduce risks, and take advantage of the technology. We work closely with Cisco Engineering to advocate for innovation for our customer and as a liaison, share what is coming with our customers to help them be the groundbreakers of technology. As a Consulting Engineer, you will help drive the effort to transform our current and future network architecture for our customers. You will work directly with our customers and gain direct experience and exposure into their networks. You will collaborate on a variety of projects that have a real impact on the lives of Veterans and military service members. We will value your ideas and perspective on how to get things done. You will improve on network infrastructures and help to deliver business solutions and technology solutions from data, security, mobility, and cloud. Candidate will be supporting systems where our Network Management System (NMS) is deployed. While specific knowledge of our NMS, Zenoss, is not required, chosen candidate should expect to help support this software as part of overall job duties. Engineer must have strong technical competence, demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills to communicate with team members, business units, program managers, sales teams, and Government representatives as required. The Engineer must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team (including remote members).

Requirements

  • Must possess a current U.S. Government DOD TS/SCI with CI Poly cleared Linux Systems Admin/Engineer
  • 5 years relevant experience in Cisco networking (combination of Enterprise Networking, Security, Data Center or Collaboration)
  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) or equivalent skills (Enterprise Networking, Security, Data Center or Collaboration)
  • Experience implementing NIST 800-53 controls
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee).
  • Must have a current US Government DOD Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience delivering Cisco standard methodologies within customer's infrastructure.
  • Ability to provide high-level crisis management through anticipation of issues, problems or events and actively resolving them with the Customer and Partners.
  • Leverage good communication, consulting and customer relationship skills to create productive collaborations.
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes
  • Ability to build/maintain/administer virtual servers
