Technical Artist

Bedrock Robotics•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

Bedrock Robotics is seeking an exceptional Technical Artist to help build and scale its robotics simulation environment. Simulation supports autonomy development by enabling end-to-end system validation, evaluation of complex and unsafe scenarios, and testing at scale. The autonomy stack is deeply machine-learning-driven, and reducing the sim-to-real gap is a central focus of the role. The simulator should accurately represent construction sites, including real-world lighting, 3D content, and terrain deformation for digging and earthmoving, while remaining efficient enough to support thousands of runs. High-quality simulation is central to accelerating robotics development. The Technical Artist will own the 3D content generation and curation pipeline, develop simulation systems for ML-based autonomy, evaluation, and safety validation, improve realism and performance, and help guide strategy for procedural scene generation and rendering. The role is suited to someone passionate about large-scale, realistic simulation, experienced with advanced 3D simulation software, and eager to build core simulation content.

Requirements

  • Games or simulation background with at least 4 years working in real-time 3D.
  • Strong foundation in technical art, including 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, PBR materials, lighting, and performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine, with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Passion for large-scale, realistic simulation systems.
  • Experience with advanced 3D simulation software.
  • A hands-on mindset and enthusiasm for building core simulation content.

Nice To Haves

  • Robotics simulation experience.
  • Experience with Isaac Sim or Omniverse.
  • Experience with neural rendering techniques such as Gaussian splats or NeRFs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the 3D content generation and curation pipeline for an autonomous construction simulator.
  • Develop simulation systems that support ML-based autonomy, evaluation, and safety validation.
  • Improve simulation realism and performance to better reflect real-world behavior.
  • Help guide strategy for procedural scene generation and rendering techniques.
