The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Technical Accounting Manager, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Providing counsel and serving as a key determinant in managing, researching and offering alternatives and conclusions related to US GAAP technical accounting matters across all of 3M’s businesses Consulting with business and finance leaders (including Chief Accounting Officer, Treasurer, SVP of Tax and Chief Financial Officer) on accounting implications of potential strategies, unusual transactions and events Monitoring the activities of accounting standard setting bodies (FASB, SEC, AICPA, etc.) and coordinating communication and implementation across 3M Advising on mergers and acquisition and divestiture diligence, purchase accounting and other matters—as well as participating in numerous other specialty areas such as legal matters, restructurings, tax and treasury Participating in the design and implementation of training for finance and other areas Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or finance (completed and verified prior to start). Seven (7) years of finance or accounting experience in a private, public, government or military environment. Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Licensed, active CPA or CMA Has technical knowledge of US GAAP Big four (4) Public accounting or accounting advisory experience Excellent communication skills (at all levels in the organization), both written and verbal Self-motivator with strong organizational and prioritization skills Team player with the ability to work with a variety of internal and external clients in a consultative role and maintain productive relationships Work location: Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or finance (completed and verified prior to start).
  • Seven (7) years of finance or accounting experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
