About The Position

The Department of Parks & Recreation is hiring temporary, part-time TEAM Student Assistants for its Teen Entrepreneurship Amusement Management (TEAM) Program. Student Assistants help deliver community events across Arlington while developing leadership, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and customer service skills. The position provides on-the-job training and mentorship in setting up and operating event attractions such as moon bounces, games, face painting, and concessions. Work takes place indoors and outdoors, and hours and days vary from a few hours per week up to 20 hours per week.

Requirements

• Applicants must be at least 14 years of age.
• Non-high school graduates must have worked with youth in a recreation, education, or similar setting.
• Applicants must have reliable transportation to and from assigned work locations.
• Applicants must submit a complete application, including a resume and a letter of reference and/or supporting documentation verifying work or school experience.
• A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted, including checks of criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history; applicants must sign a release authorizing the County to obtain this information.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and set up moon bounces, games, and other event equipment.
• Supervise moon bounces and other attractions during events.
• Provide face painting and balloon art for event guests.
• Staff concession stands and handle sales.
• Lead or assist with planning and conducting recreation programs and events.
• Lead or assist with recreational activities.
• Assist with participant and program evaluations.
• Support participants of all abilities, including individuals with disabilities.
• Provide friendly customer service to children, families, and community members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
