About The Position

The Security Guard monitors the safety and security of the facility, property, employees, and visitors. Duties may include securing gate access, controlling building access, conducting rounds, directing visitors, assisting the public, monitoring alarms, and responding to incidents. The role also involves preparing incident reports and journal entries. Positions are available full-time at 32 hours per week and part-time at 16–24 hours per week. Evening and weekend shifts may be required. The pay rate is $15.00 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Good working knowledge of security operations.
• Ability to proficiently use computer applications to write reports and perform related tasks.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, in writing and verbally, with a wide variety of customers and government stakeholders.
• Ability to remain calm during emergencies or other stressful situations.
• Physical capability to assist in emergencies.
• Six months of previous security-related experience is preferred but not required.

Nice To Haves

• Military or National Guard experience.
• Associate's degree or 60 semester hours of college-level coursework.
• Completion of a Police Officer's Training Course.
• Six months of previous security-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security guard tours and rounds.
• Control and monitor access control systems and building or gate access.
• Generate incident reports and journal entries.
• Direct contractors and visitors.
• Interact with members of the public and provide assistance.
• Monitor CCTV and security-related software.
• Monitor, answer, and generate emails in a timely manner.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
