About The Position

The Transmission & Distribution/Customer Operations Team Leader under general guidance is responsible and accountable for the continuous safe and efficient operations, maintenance and/or construction of the AES Ohio electric transmission system. Prioritizes, directs, monitors, and evaluates performance of the Transmission line group. Prepares, controls, and administers project budgets to achieve maximum business results relating to overall performance, cost efficiency and reliability. The individual will be responsible for administering company policies and practices to ensure that safe, dependable service is provided. The position incorporates planning, problem solving, technical applications and crisis management to improve process performance and to achieve desired results. The position will include other duties as assigned including special projects and assisting with outage restoration efforts. Directs the efforts of AES Ohio Transmission Line Crews as well as Contract Line Crews and dealing directly with customers to complete projects within the required timeframe and financial constraints. Manage overtime. Lead the safety efforts for the Transmission department. Audit crews for improvement. Assist with daily and storm restoration efforts to meet monthly and annual CAIDI Goals as well as reducing storm duration times. Review projects prior to assigning a crew. This will include job site visits and making sure materials are ready for the project. Track and monitor performance of crews through job site visits as well as comparing actual hours versus estimated hours to complete a project. Performs union eligible performance reviews as scheduled. Work with customers, builders, electricians, etc. to reduce PUCO complaints. Manages projects in ‘assigned’ work zones. Enforces and complies with all federal safety policies, practices and procedures; through guidance and training, ensure that employees know, understand and apply all safety rules, OSHA and EPA regulations, good work practice and proper craftsmanship techniques applicable to their work. Develops and maintains strong relationships with other areas/departments to improve job efficiencies and reduce operating costs by researching “Best Practices” and implementing new technologies and processes.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and utilize strategic thought processes effectively.
  • Basic knowledge or ability to become familiar with all Regulatory Agency policies and guidelines as they related to the operations of the AES Ohio transmission and distribution systems.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with computers, particularly spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Management preferred or equivalent T&D work experience.
