About The Position

The Materials Lead for the Tank & Canopy department is responsible for assisting with all materials delivered to our internal and external customers. This role oversees work assignments given to Material Handlers, provides assistance in determining and meeting short-term departmental objectives, and delegates job assignments while determining priorities based on available labor and workload. The lead ensures that Materials personnel execute job duties and demonstrate personal conduct compliant with all applicable guidelines, policies, and procedures, taking appropriate actions to ensure efficient and compliant operations. They communicate with department management, traffic, planning, and/or shipping associates regarding accuracy, safety, and housekeeping, and observe and communicate unsafe conditions to traffic and/or supervision, taking corrective actions. This role also provides assistance with problem-solving for shipping personnel and other designees for scanning and case location questions, demonstrating the ability to adjust to changing demands and priorities constantly. Additionally, the lead assists with planning for and execution of quarterly physical inventories, ensures personnel meet or exceed minimum daily trailer/case loading targets, performs root cause analysis for mistakes, and conducts 6S audits. They ensure company safety, quality, and performance procedures are met in a safe, clean, and organized setting, offering recommendations for improvement. Safely operating a lift truck or hand truck to move products is also part of the role. Occasional, and at times heavy, overtime and extended hours, including weekends, are required. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years minimum related experience and/or training
  • Ability to operate a forklift and operate safely.
  • Minimum 4 years warehouse experience.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds plus bending, twisting or lifting from awkward positions or in tight spaces, must be able to push and pull cases in excess of 200lbs to 800lbs repetitiously.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, and/or kneel.

Nice To Haves

  • Warehouse supervisory experience preferred.
  • AS400 Experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to demonstrate sound judgment when confronted with unexpected or unfamiliar work and/or people situations.
  • Close attention to detail is required to assure the accuracy of documents, the proper storage and movement of materials, proper data entry in the AS400 computer systems, to correct potential unsafe or housekeeping conditions in the warehouse storage and work areas.

  • Ensure personnel meet or exceed the minimum number of trailers/cases loaded daily, performing root cause analysis when mistakes are discovered, and performing 6S audits.
  • Ensure company safety, quality and performance procedures are met in a safe, clean and organized setting and offer recommendations to improve these standards.
  • Safely operate lift truck or hand truck to move products when necessary.
