This role involves supervising children's visits, observing interactions, and preparing detailed documentation. The Team Leader acts as the central point of contact for clients during visitations or exchanges, intervening when necessary to ensure child safety and welfare, and collecting service fees. The position also involves administrative duties such as reviewing logs, supporting Access staff, making final decisions for the shift, reviewing client files, and submitting documentation to program administration. Health and safety are paramount, requiring adherence to security protocols, safe work procedures, and reporting of any incidents. The role requires maintaining confidentiality and complying with all Salvation Army policies and relevant legislation.

Requirements

  • Completed an Undergraduate University Degree in Social Work, Counselling, or Psychology preferred.
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License; current copy of a Driver's abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
  • A valid First Aid & CPR Certification is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience in a Supervised Access program, or in a comparable setting working with children and families in crisis.
  • Knowledge regarding the impact of separation and divorce on families, particularly children.
  • Knowledge of broad range of social issues affecting families including mental health, substance abuse, family dynamics, separation/divorce, abuse, intimate partner violence and child development.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience in ensuring that work completed is technically accurate and in compliance with instructions and established procedures.
  • Experience in negotiation, conciliation and conflict management.
  • Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional and engaging manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment.
  • Maintain information in confidence as required.
  • Must comply with all Salvation Army policies and procedures and associated legislation.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children's visits according to Court orders, parental separation agreements or other relevant agreements as required.
  • Be the central point of contact for communication with clients during the visitation or exchange regarding childcare instructions, information that needs to be relayed between parties, dissemination of information from the Supervised Access Program to clients, etc.
  • Intervene when appropriate to ensure child safety and welfare and terminate visit when required.
  • Provide feedback/correction to the relevant party as necessary.
  • Collect relevant service fees from all participating parties at the beginning of all visits.
  • At the start of each shift, review communication log and address items listed as needed.
  • Provide oversight and support to Access staff during visits.
  • Be the final decision maker for the shift, ensuring all decisions are guided by Supervised Access Program and The Salvation Army Operational policies.
  • Review client file prior to visit, ensuring all required documentation is present and appropriately signed.
  • Write and provide receipt to all participating parties when collecting service fees.
  • When visits are completed, gather all documentation, review for completion and accuracy, and submit to program administration.
  • Ensure all staff on shift are using the appropriate mandated safety equipment.
  • Ensure all building security processes and protocols are followed.
  • Ensure all program space is tidy and clean prior to and after visits.
  • Follow safe work procedures.
  • Know and comply with all regulations.
  • Report any injury or illness immediately or unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Participate in all training.
  • Know all hazards, including those outside own work area.
  • Know were the first aid kits and fire extinguishers are located and how to use them.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
