About The Position

The Team Lead - Materials is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials and equipment, and ensuring the correct delivery and shipment of materials. The role coordinates the work of other materials employees, trains new material handler hires, and acts as a forklift driving tester for employees seeking a forklift license. The position performs work within takt/cycle time and according to work instructions, supports material movement to points of use, and helps maintain an orderly, safe work area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in material handling.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, drawings, and blueprints.
• Basic math skills.
• Knowledge of the JDE Material Handler Menu.
• Certified forklift operator.
• Ability to train others.
• Ability to test forklift drivers.
• Ability to direct the work of others on the team.

Responsibilities

• Perform work within takt/cycle time and according to work instructions.
• Train and mentor new material handlers on the team.
• Monitor and test new forklift drivers and conduct recertifications.
• Provide and process movement of material to point of use.
• Keep the work area clean by disposing of empty boxes and cardboard and keeping materials around the assembly line orderly.
• Inform proper personnel of material shortages.
• Check in and place materials from other cells.
• Operate a forklift.
• Adhere to all safety requirements in the work area.
• Practice 5Ss.
• Coordinate and direct the work of other materials employees.
