About The Position

The Team Lead - Materials is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials and equipment and ensuring correct delivery and shipment. The role coordinates the work of other materials employees, trains new material handlers, and tests employees seeking or renewing forklift-driving certification. It also involves moving materials to their point of use, maintaining orderly work areas, reporting shortages, and following safety and 5S practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in material handling.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, drawings, and blueprints.
• Basic math skills.
• Knowledge of the JDE Material Handler Menu.
• Certified forklift operator.
• Ability to train others.
• Ability to test forklift drivers.
• Ability to direct the work of others on the team.

Responsibilities

• Perform work within takt/cycle time and according to work instructions.
• Train and mentor new material handlers on the team.
• Monitor and test new forklift drivers and conduct recertifications.
• Move materials to their point of use.
• Keep the work area clean and assembly-line materials neat and orderly, including disposing of empty boxes and cardboard.
• Inform appropriate personnel about material shortages.
• Check in and place materials from other cells.
• Operate a forklift.
• Adhere to safety requirements in the work area.
• Practice 5S.
• Coordinate and direct the work of other materials employees.
