About The Position

Medcan is seeking a Team Lead, Diagnostic Imaging to provide day-to-day operational and clinical leadership for the Diagnostic Imaging team. Reporting to the Manager, Clinic Services Oakville, this role supports efficient department workflows, staff development, equipment and inventory oversight, and the delivery of safe, high-quality patient experience. As a working Team Lead, you will provide direct clinical support as needed while partnering with the Manager on coaching, recruitment, performance management and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a full-time role scheduled Monday to Saturday during regular clinic hours (6:30am – 6pm) for an 8.5 hour shift. Our Oakville clinic is located at 2275 Upper Middle Road E. There is free parking on site.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a Medical Imaging Technologist in function such as sonography, X-Ray, Mammography or other relevant modalities.
  • Previous leadership, team-lead or operational coordination experience.
  • Strong clinical judgment and commitment to quality and patient safety.
  • Excellent communication, organization and time-management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching and client-service abilities.
  • Experience troubleshooting imaging equipment and managing departmental inventory.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a positive team culture and support staff development.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily schedules, staff assignments, workflows and break coverage.
  • Assess patient volumes and allocate staff, equipment and clinical space effectively.
  • Adjust workflows to support safe, timely and efficient patient care.
  • Monitor team productivity and address day-to-day operational challenges.
  • Prepare patients and perform diagnostic imaging examinations within your professional scope.
  • Accurately document and process patient information.
  • Review relevant patient history and collaborate with radiologists, physicians and interdisciplinary partners.
  • Work closely with the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging and Manager, Clinic Services (Oakville) on continuous process improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Ensure departmental practices align with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and the patient experience.
  • Support the development and maintenance of policies, standard operating procedures and training materials.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and quality-control activities.
  • Coordinate departmental supplies, ordering, invoicing and vendor relationships.
  • Represent Oakville Diagnostic Imaging on relevant committees and quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for patient concerns and help resolve challenging interactions.
  • Lead team meetings and communicate operational and organizational updates.
  • Promote a collaborative, respectful and accountable team environment.
  • Provide team members with coaching, mentorship and timely feedback.
  • Support staff development plans, performance discussions and annual reviews in partnership with the Manager.
  • Engage the team in workflow improvements and patient-experience initiatives.
  • Help assess staffing requirements and support recruitment activities.
  • Participate in resume reviews, interviews and candidate assessments.
  • Support the onboarding, orientation and training of new team members.
