About The Position

This role involves leading a team to achieve daily goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The Team Captain will coach and develop line associates, ensure consistency in product creation by supporting company standards, and make sound decisions in critical situations. The position also requires active participation in company lean initiatives, maintenance and troubleshooting of line equipment, and setting up lines for production orders. The Team Captain must uphold corporate ethics and standards, set and measure progress against daily, weekly, and monthly goals, and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Support for company, department, and safety policies is essential, as is the proper use and documentation of equipment and materials. Recommendations for equipment purchases to improve operations are also part of the role, along with other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with One Point Lesson Plans, Standard Work Instruction and other visual management tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both verbal and written formats.
  • Must be able to understand, speak, read and write in English in order to perform the essential functions of the job as they relate to comprehension of laws, regulations, standards, documents and other internal and external communications.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
  • Ability to effectively present information to upper management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college preferred with technical training in maintenance manufacturing.
  • Lean experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement measurement systems to easily track and document productivity of production lines.
  • Play an active role in company lean initiatives.
  • Maintain line equipment and trouble shoot mechanical problems.
  • Set up lines for production orders.
  • Support corporate ethics and standards, by example, and by directive.
  • Sets daily, weekly, and monthly goals; measures progress and reviews with management regularly.
  • Assures that the operation is compliant with the SOP’s, proposed GMP’s, and those procedures are adequately documented.
  • Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.
  • Engage in proper use, care, and documentation of equipment and materials issued in work area.
  • Recommends equipment purchases to improve operations, i.e. reduce costs, improve quality, reduce lead-times, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned and needed.
