About The Position
This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant position in RECL2P07 Introduction to Research Design and Evaluation for the Fall D2-1 term. Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications the employee holds. Employees who do not hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate of $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). Additional duties required will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.
Requirements
- Achieved a minimum of 80% in the course
- At least third- or fourth-year students currently enrolled in Recreation and Leisure Studies, or who have completed a RECL degree or equivalent
- Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students
- Punctual in attending classes
- Able to meet appropriate deadlines
