About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator position in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) RECL2P11 - The Social Psychology of Leisure and Recreation. Compensation for these positions is based on the employee's qualifications. Undergraduate rate is $23.30 per hour for those without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree. Graduate rate is $36.67 per hour for those with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

  • Achieved a minimum of 80% in the course
  • At least third- or fourth-year students currently enrolled in Recreation and Leisure Studies, or who have completed a RECL degree or equivalent
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students
  • Punctual in attending classes
  • Able to meet appropriate deadlines
