About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant for the course POLI 3P97: Criminal Justice Politics and Policy during the Winter D3 term. The nominal workload for this position is 60 hours. Duties include facilitating small group discussions based on assigned materials, grading of assignments and exams, providing thoughtful and constructive feedback to enrich students' academic experiences, and maintaining accurate records of individual student performance. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree in Political Science with emphasis on Canadian Politics and justice policy
  • Must have the ability to clearly articulate the basic theoretical concepts
  • Must have strong essay writing skills
  • Must have good organizational skills and be able to observe timelines requested by the Instructor
  • Must have prior documented experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar leadership capacity
