About The Position

This position is for a Teaching Assistant for the Neuropharmacology course (PHAR 562) at McGill University. The role involves supporting the course supervisor by preparing for and leading small group sessions, tutoring international students with English language difficulties, invigilating quizzes and exams, and evaluating assignments and exam questions. The Teaching Assistant will also be responsible for managing course materials in mycourses and ensuring their availability for teaching days, miniquizzes, small group sessions, and exam invigilation.

Requirements

  • Graduate Student at the Master’s or Doctoral level, at McGill University.
  • Fluent on the course topics, ideally whose graduate work is based on neuroscience.
  • Sufficient command of English to be able to help international students.
  • Very good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Authorized to work in Canada.
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidate has successfully passed PHAR 562 and PHAR 563.

Responsibilities

  • Reading scientific articles in preparation for small group sessions.
  • Leading a discussion on two assigned topics in small group sessions.
  • Occasional tutoring of International students with language (English) difficulties, either in the office or by email.
  • Invigilating students enrolled in the course during writing of quizzes and exams (helping with language problems and clarifying other difficulties with exams questions).
  • Reading and evaluating assignments and short answer exam questions.
  • Managing of course materials in mycourses.
  • Reserving calendars to be available for teaching days, miniquizzes, small group sessions, and exam invigilation.

Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: 38.34$ (effective August 2026)
