About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant in IENG 3P12 for the Winter D3 term. Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds. Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour. Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $36.67 per hour. In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Requirements

  • Strong academic background in automation, robotics, control systems, and industrial programming
  • Successful completion of courses related to digital controller systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial robotics, and feedback control
  • Knowledge of controller architectures, interfacing, communication protocols, interrupts, power management, PLC programming languages, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and industrial control system tuning
  • Familiarity with robot modelling, path planning, robot programming, robot vision, simulation environments, and industrial automation practices
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to support grading, laboratory activities, tutorials, and student consultations
  • Ability to promote a safe, ethical, and inclusive learning environment
