About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant position within the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group for the IENG 3P14 course during the Winter D3 term. Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the employee's qualifications. Employees without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). Employees with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate of $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). Additional duties required of a Teaching Assistant will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparing seminar material, student consultation, marking/grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of biomedical instrumentation and the principles of acquiring, conditioning, displaying, and recording biological signals.
  • Knowledge of bio-signal processing techniques, including signal characterization, filtering, analysis, and interpretation of physiological data.
  • Familiarity with biomedical sensors, transducers, and wearable devices used for monitoring and measuring physiological parameters.
  • Prior completion of coursework in biomedical devices, instrumentation, signal processing, or related engineering disciplines with strong academic performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with laboratory instruction, technical problem-solving, or mentoring students in biomedical or engineering courses is considered an asset.
