About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for HLSC 3P09 for the Winter D3 term. This position is within the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) and involves supporting the Human Endocrinology course. Compensation is based on qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or related discipline.
  • Completed this course within the last three years.
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students and provide constructive feedback.
  • Punctual in attending classes.
  • Able to meet appropriate deadlines.
  • Experience or training with synchronous and asynchronous course support.
  • Proficiency with online delivery tools (e.g., Lifesize, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace), computer spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and electronic audience response systems.
  • Available to provide feedback in person and, when required, online.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading seminars is an asset.
  • If vacancies remain, fourth year (honours) standing students in Health Sciences or related discipline will be considered.
