About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the GEOG 2P07 - Introduction to Geospatial Technologies course for the Fall D2-1 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. Compensation will be based on the employee's qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour, effective September 1, 2026. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking, grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree or have completed a Honours Degree in Geography or equivalent.
Completion of 4 full credits in Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Geography courses completed (or equivalent).
Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course (or equivalent) or previous experience teaching geomatics.
Knowledge of geomatics, experience with geomatics software (including ENVI version 5.0 and ArcGIS version 10.1, and/or QGIS).
Demonstrated successful undergraduate teaching experience in geomatics or equivalent small group leadership in an undergraduate context.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines.
