About The Position
This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant for the course CPCF 1F25: Media and Culture: Texts and Practices for the Fall/Winter 2025 term. The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required. Compensation for the position varies based on the employee's educational qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. Additional duties required will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The position is subject to course enrollments and budgetary approval. Part-time Graduate Students and Non-Students must ensure that any appointments do not exceed the maximum regular hours allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act.
Requirements
- An Honours BA in Communication Studies, Film Studies, Popular Culture or equivalent.
- B+ or higher average in COMM 1F90, FILM 1F94, PCUL 1F92, CPCF 1F25 or equivalent.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Communication Studies, Film Studies, or Popular Culture relevant to the applicable course.
- Good literacy, numeracy, computer skills
- Experience leading seminars
