About The Position

This full-time Teaching Assistant Professor position requires approximately 80% teaching and 20% service. Service duties may include participation in search committees, review committees, and administrative roles within the department and/or College. The position includes a three-course teaching load each semester during the fall and spring terms. Teaching assignments will be determined by the candidate's expertise and departmental needs. The six courses taught will be at the undergraduate level and may include a mix of existing and new courses. This position is initially a 3-year contract with the possibility of renewal and promotion, following university and departmental personnel policies.

  • Commitment to teaching, mentoring, and training undergraduate students
  • Ability to work with a diverse student body

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in urban planning or a related discipline
  • Record of, or demonstrated potential for, outstanding undergraduate teaching
  • Experience as a practicing planner with extensive experience in leading professional training or other activities that promote planning education for large groups
  • Professional credentials, such as AICP certification
  • Active engagement with professional organizations, such as the American Planning Association (APA)
