About The Position

The School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for the Michael W. Rubinoff Assistant Teaching Professorship in Jewish Studies. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and dedicated teacher with demonstrated expertise in Jewish history and/or Jewish religion. They should possess a strong record of excellence in undergraduate teaching and the ability to engage with multicultural student populations in both specialized and general education courses. The position requires current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies (SHPRS) is an interdisciplinary academic unit within The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, fostering a broad range of humanistic disciplines. Jewish Studies at ASU provides opportunities to explore Jewish history, religion, culture, and thought within global and comparative frameworks. SHPRS is committed to innovative teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, and public engagement. Requirements

PhD in Jewish Studies, History, Religious Studies, or a related field by the time of appointment
Demonstrated record of successful undergraduate teaching
Expertise in Jewish history and/or Jewish religion
Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Ability to teach across multiple chronological or thematic areas of Jewish Studies
Experience teaching large-enrollment and general education courses
Evidence of inclusive and innovative pedagogical practices
Interest in public-facing or community-engaged Jewish Studies programming
Demonstrated commitment to working with faculty, staff, students, and communities to advance the principles of the ASU Charter

Responsibilities

Teach a 4/4 course load
Contribute regularly to SHPRS’ core curriculum
Teach courses that support the broader humanities and interdisciplinary mission of the university
Participate in appropriate service activities within SHPRS and the university
Contribute to the intellectual and pedagogical life of Jewish Studies at ASU
