About The Position

The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is committed to empowering students to succeed by providing affordable and accessible education to advance the local and global workforce. The Teaching Assistant for Geosciences will support the work of faculty and students in preparing the future geoscience workforce through practical skill development and academic readiness for advanced studies.

Requirements

  • Successful candidates will have successfully completed 1 - 2 semesters of coursework.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill are eligible to assist in various Geoscience courses as an assistant.
  • All candidates must reside within Idaho.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 16 weeks of support at 8 hours per week for each semester, for a total of 2 semesters per project year.
  • Assist MINE.AS instructors in training and supervision of students during the classroom, skills lab, and other components of the program.
  • Ensure effective utilization of resources, including supplies and time management.
  • Perform general academic functions in support of a specific course, faculty, or department.
  • Assist with the preparation, distribution, and collection of class, grant, lab, and/or geoscience materials.
  • Assist a faculty member with course preparations and instructional materials.
  • Maintain positive and effective student, teacher, and facility employee relationships.
