About The Position

This position is for a Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Lab Monitor for the PRINCIPLES OF CHEMISTRY course (CHM1311) during the 2026 Fall Semester. The role involves providing tutorials, preparing for and proctoring exams, quizzes, and midterms. The work is virtual and requires 65 total work hours. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. Undergraduate students will be paid at a lower rate, while graduate students will be paid at a higher rate. These rates do not include vacation or statutory pay and will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified, with retroactivity paid after ratification. All University of Ottawa employees must complete mandatory legislated training. The hiring process is governed by the CUPE 2626 collective agreement. Requirements

  • 1 full year of general chemistry
  • 1 full year of organic chemistry
  • CHM 2454
  • CHM 2131/2132 or their equivalents
  • Successful completion of WHIMIS and Occupational Health and Safety workshops
  • All those who are not a Chemistry graduate student will be required to write a test to qualify (unless already done in previous semester).
