About The Position

This posting is for a Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Lab Monitor (CUPE) position for the Computer Architecture I (CEG2136A) course during the 2026 Fall Semester. The role involves preparing and testing lab experiments, exercises, and assignments, assisting students with labs, assignments, and theory, preparing and delivering tutorials, presenting demonstrations, marking assignments, lab reports, and quizzes, and offering consultation hours. The position also includes proctoring examinations and/or quizzes. The teaching method will be delivered in person. The number of positions and hours offered are subject to final enrollment in the course. All University of Ottawa employees are required to complete mandatory legislated training. The hiring process will be governed by the CUPE 2626 collective agreement. The University of Ottawa embraces diversity and inclusion and is committed to employment equity.

Requirements

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have completed this course or its equivalent and its prerequisite(s) with a mark of A or better.
  • Attend a TA workshop if necessary.
  • Must be ready for an interview if considered for this position.
  • If the responsibilities include DGD and/or TUT and/or LAB supervision or teaching, the applicant must be available for all of these.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Altera Quartus II and FPGA.
  • Good knowledge of VHDL and assembly language.
  • Must demonstrate clear ability to explain complex concepts.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a TA for CEG2136 or equivalents is an asset.

Responsibilities
