About The Position

This position is for a Teaching Assistant for the INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES course (MCG4111 Section A00) during the Fall 2026 semester. The role involves providing teaching assistance to the course supervisor, including conducting LAB/TUT sessions, student consultations, supporting engine design and evaluation, marking assignments and examinations, and proctoring. The total expected work hours are 100, with specific allocations to be negotiated with the supervisor. The teaching method will be delivered in person, though this may change due to health measures or other reasons. All University of Ottawa employees are required to complete mandatory legislated training. The hiring process will be governed by the CUPE 2626 collective agreement.

Requirements

  • Strong background in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and internal combustion engines
  • Familiarity with combustion principles, engine performance analysis, and engine design
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Availability in person throughout the course session
  • Availability to proctor the final exam

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with engine project design and evaluation
  • Successfully completed an undergraduate course in Internal Combustion Engines
  • Graduate-level coursework or research experience in thermal-fluid sciences, combustion, propulsion, or energy systems
