About The Position

This posting is for a Teaching Assistant (TA) position for the CHM3750 Transition Metals Chemistry course during the Fall 2026 semester. The TA will be responsible for assisting students in the laboratory and other settings, grading lab reports, quizzes, midterms, and the final exam, supervising quizzes and midterms, and proctoring the final exam. Some sections may be bilingual. The position is part of the CUPE 2626 collective agreement.

Requirements

• Successful completion of one year of general chemistry.
• Successful completion of one year of organic chemistry.
• Successful completion of a 4000-level inorganic chemistry course or equivalent.
• Must have successfully completed workshops on the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
• Candidates who are not graduate students in chemistry must pass a qualifying test.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in the laboratory and elsewhere.
• Grade laboratory reports, quizzes, mid-term exams, and the final exam.
• Supervise quizzes and mid-term exams.
• Proctor a final exam.
• Give DGDs (Tutorials/Recitations).
• Grade assignments.
