About The Position

This posting is for a Teaching Assistant (TA) position for the POL1101 - Introduction to Political Science course, Section B00, during the Fall 2026 semester at the University of Ottawa's Main Campus. The course focuses on a comparative study of political ideas, concepts, and issues, exploring their impact on individuals and societies, with a reflection on power, citizenship, and political participation. It also includes an introduction to research tasks such as bibliographic research and report writing. The TA will be responsible for various duties including teaching assistance, leading discussion groups, marking papers and exams, and holding office hours for students. The student must adhere to deadlines set by the supervisor and attend lectures if required. The teaching method is in-person, but may change due to health measures. Travel to the University of Ottawa campus may be required. All mandatory legislated training must be completed. The hiring process is governed by the CUPE 2626 collective agreement. Requirements

  • Priority will be given to candidates in accordance with articles 18.5 and 18.6 of the CUPE collective agreement.
  • Students must be available to travel to the University of Ottawa campus in Ottawa at the request of their supervisor and/or the School.
  • Must be an undergraduate or graduate student eligible for the TA/RA position.
  • Must meet the deadlines set by the supervisor.
  • Must attend lectures if requested to do so.
