About The Position

IC Imagine Charter School in Asheville is seeking a licensed and dedicated Upper School Math Teacher for grades 9-12. The teacher will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive curriculum for various Math courses. The position offers a $2000 hiring bonus, salary based on IC Imagine’s Certified/Licensed Teachers Salary Schedule, merit-based bonuses tied to student growth, and a potential year-end bonus for all employees. The role involves demonstrating extensive knowledge of the curriculum, designing instruction based on continuous assessment, teaching a range of high school and potential college-level courses, implementing the Second Step SEL Curriculum, collaborating with colleagues, participating in Standard Based Grading, preparing students for state assessments, differentiating instruction, maintaining a positive attitude, communicating with parents and colleagues, managing instructional resources, planning student field trips, and adhering to faculty handbook processes. Additional duties include supervision during non-instructional time, attending after-school events, participating in enrollment activities, and upholding legal and ethical teaching standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid North Carolina teaching license
  • 1-year teaching experience preferred
  • Proficiency with GSuite

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Mathematics preferred.
  • This qualifies the candidate to teach AB-Tech courses on IC Imagine campus.
  • Additional stipend for AB-Tech Courses.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of Upper School course curriculum
  • Use resources necessary to plan, implement, and evaluate an engaging, age-appropriate course of study that follows the guidelines of the NC Standards for all courses taught
  • Design instruction appropriate for all students that reflects an understanding of relevant content and is based on continuous and appropriate assessment
  • Teach a range of high school courses and possible college level courses depending upon degree and experience
  • Implement Second Step SEL Curriculum and lead advisory group
  • Collaborate with other teachers, support staff and the IC Imagine community to enhance the educational opportunities for all students
  • Participate in Standard Based Grading practices
  • Prepare students for participation in state assessments
  • Prepare and deliver appropriate instruction for intervention and enrichment groups
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to the positive school climate
  • Frequent oral and written communication with parents and families of students
  • Frequent oral and written communication with colleagues and administrators
  • Manage inventory and repair of instructional resources and equipment
  • Plan and facilitate student field trips to provide enrichment opportunities
  • Follow the processes laid out in the faculty handbook, respond to emails in a timely manner, keep grades updated weekly, and correspond regularly with families with pertinent information for courses taught.
  • Perform additional duties including, but not limited to supervision during non-instructional time, attending after-school events and meetings, participating in enrollment activities leading and during the Open Enrollment period.
  • Adhere to all legal and ethical requirements of the teaching profession and set an example for others to do the same.
