Teacher/Tutor-Upper Level Math and Sciences
About The Position
Sylvan Learning is seeking an instructor to teach upper-level math and sciences, as well as other subjects and skills, including Reading, Math, Writing, Study Skills, and SAT/ACT preparation. Instructors lead small groups, provide immediate feedback to build students’ confidence and engagement, and help students track progress toward their goals. Lesson planning, paperwork, scheduling, payments, and parent communications are handled by Sylvan. The role is designed to accommodate students’ academic schedules, with flexible availability and morning or evening shifts. Listed shifts are Monday through Thursday, 3:30–7:30, and Saturday, 9:00–12:00 p.m.; Saturday shifts start September 12. Paid training and a supportive team are provided. Pay starts at $14.00 per hour, with raises after 100 hours.
Requirements
- Be enrolled at least as a sophomore in an education degree program, or be pursuing a related degree.
- Be an effective communicator, organized, and eager to help students succeed.
Nice To Haves
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience is a plus.
