About The Position

Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School seeks a Theology Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year who is passionate about building a strong Theology program that fosters the spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional formation of students in the Catholic tradition. Under the supervision of the Principal, the Theology Teacher will help create a learning environment that encourages young people to grow in mind, body, and spirit.

Requirements

  • Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Liturgy, Religious Studies, or a comparable field.
  • Ability to provide at least three (3) professional references.
  • Must submit to a background check and complete VIRTUS training.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and be able to work effectively with diverse personalities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience or campus/youth ministry experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a welcoming environment that encourages students, teachers, staff, and parents to contribute to the school’s Catholic identity.
  • Plan and implement daily lessons based on the school curriculum and Catholic teachings.
  • Manage all aspects of the classroom, including instruction, classroom management, and effective communication.
  • Perform non-teaching duties as assigned by the administration.
  • Participate in the co-curricular and extracurricular life of the school community.
  • Ensure that the mission of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and its Catholic identity are clearly articulated and upheld among all constituents.
  • Collaborate with the Campus Minister and student leaders in planning and implementing school liturgies, prayer services, Adoration, and sacramental experiences.
  • Collaborate with the Campus Minister and administration in planning and implementing faculty and staff retreats.
  • Promote awareness of social justice issues and community outreach.
  • Support the Campus Ministry Office in the implementation and oversight of a school-wide service-learning program.
  • Track and maintain student service-learning hours.
  • Teach up to six classes per year in either Theology or another discipline, as assigned.
  • Attend and support all school assemblies, faculty and staff meetings, designated in-services, and required weekend and evening events.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Serve in other capacities as requested by the Principal.
