About The Position

The Teacher-Science High creates and maintains a classroom atmosphere that promotes high expectations and enthusiasm for learning. The role integrates critical thinking, application, interpersonal, and technology skills into an aligned curriculum and assessment process to achieve measurable gains for all students and meet district and state standards. The teacher plans, aligns, implements, and evaluates instruction and assessment; establishes a positive, well-managed learning environment; and uses knowledge of subject matter, learning, and human development to support students’ intellectual, personal, and social development. The role also includes communicating with students, parents, and stakeholders, maintaining school records, accounting for school property, and complying with applicable professional ethics, laws, regulations, safety procedures, and nondiscrimination policies. If assigned limited-English-proficient students, the teacher must complete the required training and obtain the applicable endorsement.

Requirements

Appropriate State of Florida certification.
Computer skills as required for the position.

Responsibilities

Use traditional and alternative assessment strategies aligned with curriculum and standards to support learners’ continuous development.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
Engage in planned, continuous professional quality improvement for self and school.
Use techniques and strategies that promote students’ critical, creative, and evaluative thinking.
Use instructional strategies and materials that reflect students’ cultures, learning styles, special needs, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Fulfill applicable written contract terms and follow Florida education-profession ethics and professional conduct requirements, as well as federal, state, and district regulations.
Apply an understanding of learning and human development to provide a positive environment supporting students’ intellectual, personal, and social development.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the subject matter.
Establish a classroom management system that maintains appropriate discipline and supports active learning, social interaction, cooperative learning, and self-motivation.
Plan, align, implement, and evaluate effective instruction and assessment in varied learning environments.
Work with peers, parents, the community, and other stakeholders to continually improve students’ educational experiences.
Integrate appropriate technology into teaching and learning.
Complete required training and obtain the specified endorsement if assigned limited-English-proficient students.
Maintain school records and prepare and submit reports required by law, State Board regulations, or School District regulations.
Account for school property, including keys, records, reports, and personal computers, as prescribed by applicable regulations.
Perform and promote activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies.
Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
