About The Position

Cross Country Education is seeking dynamic and passionate Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to empower students and shape futures in New York, NY, for the '25-'26 school year. This role involves breaking down communication barriers and ensuring every learner has a voice in the classroom. The position requires providing a tailored curriculum for K-12 students, integrating assistive listening devices (ALDs) and specialized communication technologies for full classroom access. It also involves designing and managing comprehensive IEPs that prioritize language acquisition, auditory training, and academic growth based on each student's unique hearing profile. Additionally, the role includes providing training to staff on hearing loss implications and best practices for inclusive classroom environments, and facilitating a "total communication" environment using ASL, Cued Speech, or Oral/Aural methods as determined by student needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Deaf Education
  • NYSED Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (All Grades) Certification (Required)
  • Proficiency with ASL and current assistive technologies
