About The Position

The certified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will work with students through the Heart of Illinois Low Incidence (HILIA) program. This role involves providing instruction for students with hearing loss in a variety of classroom settings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Professional Educator License
  • Demonstrates competent sign language skills
  • A valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • One to three years’ experience as a Teacher of the Deaf
  • Experience using, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of amplification and Hearing Assistive Technology (ADD) including hearing aids, BAHAs, cochlear implants, Mini Mics, Roger FM systems, Edu Mic etc.
  • Experience with diagnostic assessments and implementation of services based upon the data collected.
  • Good organization and communication skills to effectively collaborate with a variety of educational professionals inclusive of Laboratory school staff and parents, local school districts, and ISU staff and students.
