Teacher in Training
About The Position
The Teacher in Training works in a special education setting to support students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development. The role uses SESI’s evidence-based instructional models, curricula, and CASE positive behavioral interventions and support framework to provide personalized instruction and guidance. The teacher works with school teams and families, develops individualized lesson plans, tracks progress toward student goals, maintains student records, and supports student safety and supervision. The position offers paid training, tuition reimbursement of up to $3,000 per year, and credentialing support.

Responsibilities
- Teach students from varied developmental, cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds using SESI’s instructional models, strategies, and curricula.
- Develop and maintain individualized, skill-appropriate lesson plans.
- Implement behavior management and intervention strategies, including de-escalation, crisis management, and physical restraint when necessary to maintain student and staff safety.
- Maintain student documentation, including individualized education plans (IEPs), behavior intervention plans (BIPs), incident reports, and high-risk evaluation forms.
- Drive, record, and track student growth and progress toward academic, social, and emotional goals.
- Supervise and monitor students, including while they travel to and from locations within the school.
- Collaborate with school teams and families to provide personalized guidance and address students’ learning, social, and emotional skill gaps.
