About The Position

This position is for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired within a candidate pool. The role involves implementing instructional programs tailored to student needs, maintaining a safe learning environment, communicating with parents, keeping accurate student records, collaborating with various stakeholders, and monitoring student achievement. The position also requires ongoing professional development and attendance at meetings. The salary will be based on the 2026-27 salary schedule. Requirements

  • Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure in Special Education - Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
  • Teaching experience in the above-mentioned area
  • Knowledge of best instructional practices
  • Ability to integrate technology
  • Experience in educational and instructional leadership

Nice To Haves

  • Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
  • Dual endorsed preferred
  • Bilingual skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Implements instructional programs that meet the needs, interests and abilities of students using appropriate instructional materials

  • Communicates with parents/guardians
  • Maintains complete and accurate student records
  • Collaborates with school administrators, other teachers, instructional assistants, parents, and community members

  • Attends ongoing professional learning and meetings
