About The Position
This position is for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired within a candidate pool for the 2026-27 school year. The role involves implementing instructional programs tailored to student needs, maintaining a safe learning environment, communicating with parents, managing student records, collaborating with school staff and community members, monitoring student achievement, and participating in professional development. Requirements
- Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure in Special Education - Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
Nice To Haves
- Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
- Teaching experience in the above-mentioned area
- Knowledge of best instructional practices
- Ability to integrate technology
- Experience in educational and instructional leadership
- Dual endorsed preferred
- Bilingual skills preferred
Responsibilities
- Implements instructional programs that meet the needs, interests and abilities of students using appropriate instructional materials
- Maintains safe and orderly environment
- Communicates with parents/guardians
- Maintains complete and accurate student records
- Collaborates with school administrators, other teachers, instructional assistants, parents, and community members
- Monitors and assesses student achievement
- Attends ongoing professional learning and meetings
