TEACHER/EDUCATOR (ACADEMY/EDUCATION) - FULL TIME (SIGN ON BONUS)
About The Position
Hartgrove Behavioral Health System is a leading psychiatric hospital with 160 beds, dedicated to providing quality behavioral health services to a diverse population of all ages. As a flagship facility within Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), Hartgrove is state-of-the-art, offering advanced technologies and programs in the behavioral health field. We emphasize teamwork and foster a compassionate, therapeutic environment, providing a continuum of specialty programs across inpatient, partial, and outpatient services. We are seeking full-time Teachers to join our team, with potential for a sign-on bonus.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Valid Illinois teaching certificate
Nice To Haves
- Masters preferred
- One year teaching ED/BD children and/or adolescents preferred
- Certification in Special Education preferred
- Prefer knowledge of effective teaching skills and educational strategies with a special education population
- Prefer knowledge of individual and group management skills
- Prefer knowledge of therapeutic relationships and processes
- Prefer knowledge of age specific growth and development
- Prefer knowledge of limit setting and crisis and behavior management
Responsibilities
- Participates in ongoing educational assessments of patients.
- Provides instruction to patients while maintaining an orderly and disciplined structure in the classroom.
- Develops special interventions for patients unable to function within the classroom setting.
- Assists in curriculum development.
- Participates in patient treatment planning and staffing when necessary.
- Understands the basic growth and development milestones with appropriate interventions specific to the age and population served.
- Completes patient lesson plans.
- Completes and maintains all records as required.
- Maintains an adequate supply of appropriate instructional materials relative to patient’s age and functioning level.
- Participates in case management activities as required.
- Assures the maintenance of a safe and sanitary environment.
