About The Position

This position is for a Full-Time Professorial CFS Track (tenure equivalent) in Teacher Education, focusing on Literacy/Children's Literature. The role involves teaching undergraduate and master's level courses, mentoring students, advising candidates, engaging in research and publication, and demonstrating leadership within the department, school, and university. The candidate must embrace and advance the unique mission of the university. This position requires relocation to and residency in Utah for the duration of employment.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree with specialization in literacy, children's literature, or a related field (completed by start date)
  • Successful K-12 public school classroom teaching experience
  • Demonstrated potential for research productivity
  • Demonstrated ability/interest to partner with local schools
  • Knowledge of national trends in literacy and children's literature
  • Must reside in the State of Utah to be eligible for employment consideration
  • Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrine of the affiliated church.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to candidates with a minimum of three years of K-12 public school classroom teaching experience
  • Preference given to qualified candidates who are members in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses related to elementary literacy and children's literature at the undergraduate level, and related courses at the master's level
  • Mentor undergraduate and master's students in research and teaching
  • Advise master's and doctoral degree candidates
  • Engage in high levels of research activity and publication
  • Demonstrate a pattern of leadership at the department, school, and university levels
  • Fulfill committee assignments and other citizenship activities inside the university, community, and profession
