About The Position

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a full-time, hourly Early Learning Teacher who is passionate about helping children learn, connecting with the community, and creating a positive experience for children and families. The role involves planning and implementing engaging, child-centered, age-appropriate curricula; supervising children to maintain a safe environment; supporting children’s personal care routines; and maintaining a healthy learning environment. The teacher also works with parents and upholds YMCA, state, and Quality Rating Systems policies and guidelines.

Requirements

• Proof of an achieved degree from an accredited college or university in education or a human services-related field, as defined by the appropriate state licensing agency.
• At least 2 years (2,500 hours) of childcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Find new and engaging ways to help children learn.
• Interact patiently and kindly with parents.
• Serve as a role model and make a positive, lasting difference in the lives of children and their families.
• Cultivate a sensitive, patient early learning environment for children and families.
• Plan and implement dynamic curricula with fun, child-centered, age-appropriate lessons.
• Supervise each child by identifying, seeing, hearing, directing, and assisting them, while ensuring a safe environment.
• Uphold YMCA, state, and Quality Rating Systems policies and guidelines for quality childcare.
• Maintain a healthy environment through light cleaning and support children’s personal care routines.
