About The Position

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is hiring a full-time, hourly Early Learning Teacher to support children and families in its childcare programs. The role involves creating an engaging, sensitive, and age-appropriate learning environment; planning and implementing child-centered curricula; supervising children and maintaining their safety; and supporting children’s personal care routines and a healthy classroom environment. Teachers work with parents and a supportive team and contribute to the YMCA’s community-focused mission.

Requirements

• Proof of an achieved degree from an accredited college or university in education or a human-services-related field, as defined by the appropriate state licensing agency.
• Two or more years (2,500 hours) of childcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Find new and engaging ways to help children learn.
• Interact patiently and kindly with parents.
• Serve as a positive role model and make a lasting difference in the lives of children and their families.
• Cultivate a sensitive, patient early learning environment for children and families.
• Plan and implement dynamic curricula with fun, child-centered, age-appropriate lessons.
• Supervise each child by identifying, seeing, hearing, directing, and assisting them, while ensuring a safe environment.
• Uphold YMCA, state, and Quality Rating Systems policies and guidelines for quality childcare.
• Maintain a healthy environment through light cleaning and support children’s personal care routines.
