About The Position

Mapleton Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated Choir Teacher for the Performing Arts Department for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will be instrumental in developing and growing our choir program, offering engaging instruction to students in grades 5-12. The role involves teaching beginning choir at elementary campuses and high school choir during the Zero Hour program. Requirements

  • Colorado teaching license with an appropriate Music endorsement required.
  • Experience teaching beginning choir students
  • Experience teaching high school choir
  • Experience teaching diverse learners
  • Mandatory Title IX training is required by the Colorado Department of Education and for all public school employees. Title IX training addresses harassment, discrimination, and bullying. Completing these mandatory Title IX training courses ensure we are meeting state requirements while continuing to foster a culture of safety and belonging across our schools. You will have two mandatory training courses that must be completed within 30 days of your date of hire and are required to be completed on your own time.

  • Additional endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education preferred, or willingness to pursue endorsement or equivalent coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging beginning choir instruction to 5th & 6th grade students at 4 elementary school campuses.
  • Provide engaging instruction to high school choir students at zero hour (before school class).
  • Develop a choir program that students and the community can be proud of.
  • Recruit students to participate and continue involvement in the choir program.
  • Provide engaging student performances during the school year.
  • Model effective strategies for supporting positive student behavior.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to carry out the mission of the performing arts department.
  • Maintain professional communication and interactions with students, parent community, and staff.
  • Utilize effective practices for community building, including rituals and traditions that build a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment.
  • Maintain a running inventory of music, uniforms, and equipment.
  • Maintain uniforms and schedule cleaning on a regular basis.
  • Attend and take full advantage of professional development opportunities offered.
  • Model, instill and actively participate in building a supportive and positive culture in the performing arts department.
  • Demonstrate perseverance in the face of challenges.
  • Work with a growth mindset.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of national, state, and local music arts standards.
