Laurel School seeks talented faculty and staff who will put our students first and strive to make a difference in their lives. We seek to attract faculty and staff who thrive on being engaged participants in our community and are committed to developing young women as authentic learners and leaders. The most successful candidates are solutions-driven, are willing to listen to learn, embrace iteration and practice as a necessary part of the product, see opportunities before problems, and thrive in a fast-paced, forward-thinking educational environment. Laurel lives our mission: to inspire each girl to fulfill her promise and to better the world. Position Summary: We seek a choral teacher with vision to inspire student creativity and commitment, and drive innovative programs and recruitment. The candidate would direct the Middle and Upper School choirs, serve as music director for the Middle and Upper School musicals, and teach high-school-level elective courses such as guitar class and music theory. The candidate should have a strong foundation in music technique and pedagogy, while being mindful of the social-emotional needs of growing musicians. The ability to direct a pit orchestra and serve as a rehearsal pianist is a must. We seek teachers interested in working collaboratively with other Laurel teachers, enthusiastic about the opportunity to design curriculum—including lessons that take advantage of our 140-acre Butler campus as an outdoor classroom—and adept at differentiating instruction. Flexibility, a sense of humor, and a deep desire to be an educator outside of the classroom—working with students in many capacities—are invaluable qualities at Laurel School.
