About The Position

The Teacher Assistant supports professional staff and the educational environment in the classroom by performing a variety of tasks. Depending on how the Principal advertises the vacancy, the role may involve duties in more than one specialty area, including instruction, behavior support, clerical work, bus driving, computer labs, or testing coordination. The listed vacancy is for a kindergarten Title I part-time interim position at Lingerfeldt Elementary. The position requires regular attendance and punctuality, a positive and professional approach, the ability to follow school policies, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, keep accurate records, support student behavior, and work positively with students, colleagues, and families. The employee is expected to participate in relevant professional learning, understand the distinction between teacher and teacher-assistant responsibilities, support a positive atmosphere, and perform other duties as assigned. For instructional assignments, the employee may prepare materials, assist with whole-class, small-group, or individual instruction, check student work, keep students on task, and fill in for the teacher as needed. Other duties described for this classification vary by assignment and may include behavior interventions, specialized student support, testing preparation and coordination, office and records tasks, computer instruction, or student-success and attendance support. The position reports directly to the Principal and Assistant Principal. It is classified as non-exempt, with salary grade 54-00 (entry level). A high school diploma is required, along with one of the specified postsecondary-credit or CEU and WorkKeys pathways. If bus-driving duties are advertised, a Commercial Driver’s License is required or the employee must be willing to obtain one. If offered the position, the employee must pass a health exam, criminal records check, and drug test; random drug testing applies because the position is safety-sensitive.
