About The Position

A premier global law firm is seeking a Tax Associate Attorney to join its Houston office. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney interested in advising public and private companies, private equity sponsors, investment funds, financial institutions, and high-net-worth clients on sophisticated domestic and international tax matters.

Requirements

3–6 years of federal income tax or transactional tax experience gained at a sophisticated law firm
Experience representing public companies, private equity sponsors, investment funds, financial institutions, and closely held businesses
Strong analytical, drafting, research, and communication skills
Excellent academic credentials
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required
Texas bar admission required or ability to become admitted

Nice To Haves

Experience with partnership taxation, corporate taxation, pass-through entities, and LLCs is preferred
Experience with international tax, energy tax, renewable energy tax credits, or tax controversy matters is a plus
LL.M. in Taxation is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

Advising public and private companies, private equity sponsors, investment funds, financial institutions, and high-net-worth clients on sophisticated domestic and international tax matters.
Advising clients on the tax aspects of mergers & acquisitions, private equity transactions, joint ventures, restructurings, financings, and capital markets transactions.
Structuring tax-efficient acquisitions, dispositions, reorganizations, and partnership transactions.
Drafting and reviewing transaction documents with respect to tax provisions and advising clients on transaction structuring.
Managing sophisticated tax matters while working closely with multidisciplinary transaction teams.
