Temporary Taverna Banfi Waitperson, The Statler Hotel
About The Position
The Taverna Banfi Waitperson provides personalized food and beverage service to guests at The Statler Hotel. The role requires general food and service knowledge and competency with beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails. Waitpersons also serve as educators and mentors to student staff, helping them develop hospitality and leadership skills. Additional duties include processing guest payments, maintaining and requisitioning stock, setting up and breaking down the service floor, keeping the service area clean, and completing other side duties. The role also includes in-room dining functions. Schedules vary according to business needs and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. This is a temporary, onsite position in Ithaca, New York.
Requirements
- Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
- Ability to cultivate inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Must be at least 18 years old to serve alcohol.
- At least 1 year of serving experience.
- Knowledgeable in the sale and service of alcoholic beverages.
- Basic reading and writing skills.
- Ability to learn point-of-sale systems and functions.
- Able to stand for extended periods.
Responsibilities
- Provide personalized food and beverage service to guests.
